Scott, a true water enthusiast, has an unwavering connection to the ocean and a fervor for boating, fishing, and all things water-related. Raised in Virginia Beach, his passion for the saltwater runs deep—rooted in a lifetime spent navigating the local waterways and beyond.

With decades of experience on the water and nearly 25 years holding a 100-ton USCG Master Captain’s license, Scott brings both technical expertise and firsthand knowledge to every client interaction. His background spans everything from captaining a wide range of vessels across multiple marine industries, offshore fishing, vessel management and comprehensive knowledge of marine safety and regulations giving him a well-rounded perspective on what boaters truly need—whether buying or selling.

Born and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Captain Neil Sykes has spent his life on the water. From an early age, he was drawn to the ocean—fishing offshore, mating on private sportfishing boats, and learning the ropes alongside seasoned watermen, notably his Dad Capt. Milt Sykes. That early passion turned into a lifelong career with obtaining his U.S. Coast Guard Master Captain’s license to refine his skills, and a deep respect for the sport.

Over the years, Captain Neil worked his way up through every position on board. He has spent decades running and maintaining private sportfishing boats, playing a key role in multiple tournament-winning teams across the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern circuits. Most notably, as captain of the 72’ Viking Mercenaria, winning the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament in 2022—a highlight in a long list of achievements. 

Neil’s sharp instincts, mechanical expertise, and deep understanding of running a sportfishing boat have earned him a reputation trusted among competitive anglers and discerning boat owners. His experience spans the East Coast, Bermuda, the Caribbean, and the waters of Isla Mujeres, where he has continued to refine his craft and expand his reach in the sportfishing world.

Whether he’s running the boat offshore or managing the intricate logistics of a top-tier tournament campaign, Captain Neil brings unmatched professionalism, calm leadership, and a true passion for the industry.

When he's not on the water, Neil enjoys spending time with his family, mentoring up-and-coming mates, and staying actively involved in the Virginia Beach fishing community he proudly calls home.
